i agree i love to drive a c5 its just so fast and smooth nothing like it but when it comes down to it, A 350 block in my 78 is just perfect for me to learn on. I could be in a bad mood all day and as soon as i go for a little spin i fell a lot better, its a great feeling having everyone wave and check out your car. Its awsome being a teenager and owning a peice of history. I dont care if new cars are no matinece and are faster then me your still going home in a honda civic and i get to take the tops off and cruz my vette home. There is nothing else in this world i would rather be driving. There needs to be more people like me who think its a lot better decking out a vette then a civic ... mussle car guys are a dieing breed :(
I don't use my cell phone in my 72 because my fat head barely fits in there by it self HEHE!! I have noticed C5'ers are a little snooty They don't wave because they are jealous of our C3's :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya
What?! Paul, this is news to me. When did you start liking C3's?
I agree with what most others have said. There's a real beauty to the curves on these cars. You see that Detroit is finially coming around to realize that styling does still matter, and that people want a distinctive car. Seems like for the past 10-15 years aerodynamics have won over true style in most every new car coming out. The new push for retro styling goes back to the days of old.
As for these old C3's, I love the way it takes me back in time when I sit way down inside, pull the door closed, and envelop myself in the cockpit. Looking out over that long hood with the bulging fenders and hearing that loud, smelly V8 fire up through the dual exhaust really takes me back to a different time.

Re: Why I like C3s (SilverMN6)
A few years ago I test drove a C5. It is truly a great car. The power, handling and comfort were unbelievable for any car and especially a car in its price range. After the drive, though, I felt that something was missing but couldn't put my finger on it. Then on the way home I came across a dealer who had a 69 BB convertible with side pipes for sale. I stopped in and told him I was thinking of trading in my 69 small block coupe. As soon as I turned the key on the 427 I knew what the C5 was missing...HUEVOS!! The thunder of the big block was mesmerizing, and stomping on the gas peddle almost frightening. Also, as great as the C5 is, park one next to a C3 and you know which one will get most of the looks.
As for C3 drivers not talking on a cell phone, we usually reserve our cell phone batteries to call AAA when the car breaks down.
I totally agree! I simply love takeing my '81 on a nice evening cruse with the tops off, and a smirk on my face as I glance at her long, sexy curvacious body(maybe I love it a little too much!)! :auto:
:iagree: My car was parked in a lot mostly full of C5s. Some kids were looking at the cars. I asked them which one was their favorite. Mine, of course :yesnod: Their second choice was a millenium yellow C5.
Kids have no prejudice. They just know what they like when they see it! :D
I get thumbs up from kids waiting at the bus stop in the morning, sexy women giving me the eye,and almost every gas station attendant wants a peek at what's under the hood if I pop it to check the oil.
But that's not why I like my C-3. If you look at all the cars on the road today it's tough to tell from a distance if the car is a Toyota or a new Vette, until you're right up close. The C-3 has a style all it's own,no mistake about it.
Then there's the power thing. I can no longer drink hot coffee in the Vette, since the 406 went in. The idle would shake hot coffee all over the place. So I don't drink coffee on the way to work anymore, the acceleration and brutal cornering is enough to wake me for the day.
1. I rarely see a C3 driver talking on a cell phone while driving, but RARELY ever see a C5 driver NOT on a cell phone.
What-- What---What, I guess I might as well turn the cell phone off.
2. C3ers wave more often.
Man is it hot in here! (Waving my hand to stay cool)
3. My C3 takes me back to the good old days.
That was the good old days- What was I doing?
4. I can actually work on the C3.
Whats broken NOW!
I agree, I am able to work on my 1980 corvette and also my old truck, but when it comes to the new cars, I dont know where to start. :)
Its funny, but before I got my 78 I had never worked on anything with a carb. I cut my teeth on TBIs and Vortecs. I had to get my brother to show me the finer points of a 4-barrel. I love it though.
