Default Semi coil overs

I am looking for semi coil overs for my '65. I am posting this here, because you c3 guys actually like to improve your cars.

My options seem to be Aldan, QA1 and Viking.

Any experience/opinions or suggestions?

I have Q-A1s in my car. The quality is great, and I’ve gotten my ride height dialed in exactly where I want it.

That being said though altering the length of the stock springs or certain aftermarket ones will lower the ride height too for a lot cheaper. Get a set of shocks you like or even some adjustables and you’ll have the same exact benefits of the semi coilovers.

Are you wanting to spend all the extra money just to say your car is on coilovers? I did

I actually have never seen this car assembled yet. So I really like the idea of adjustability.

Where did you have them adjusted in the last pic?

I have used both semi and full coilovers in my 71 as well as stock and tubular a-arms.

Either will give you a level of adjustability that stock spring and shock can’t offer.

A lot also depends on how much you want to lower the car, the semi coilovers will be somewhat limited if you want to lower heavily.

My original semi setup came from speed direct but if you look at Van Steel they now offer them. They will do a good job and offer a lot at a reasonable price.

Full coilovers will be more expensive and offer, in my view, a better ride and more adjustment options, but the extra cost is a personal decision.

I currently run a Ride-Tech coilover with Global West upper and extended travel lower arms.

Also have a look in the C2 forum for posts by “Factoid” he runs the same front end setup I do as well as a rear coil-over setup.

All the different setups have been documented in my build thread.

I would say near the bottom ish? I’ve gotten different wheels and tires since then and haven’t done the actual fender measurements, which I imagine would be different on a C2 anyways.

I'm running Van Steel semi-coilovers in front on my 71 and they’re pretty great.

im using viking dual adjustable with POL tubular a arms and poly bushings. That along with the borgeson steering really transformed how the car handles. I also lowered the vansteel rear with the rear crossbrace lower kit.

i’m also running the viking double adjustable all around, front semi coil over 450lb spring rate with global west upper and lower (extended travel lower) arms and van steel 360lb spring in the rear with borguson steering box. after a good alignment and dialing in the shocks the car drives and handles amazing compared too stock. ride comfort is good not harsh and for the price of the viking over the competitors.

The main reason I am going with semi coilovers is the car had a bad 4th gear, when I bought it, so I never drove it over 45mph.

Somehow my transmission swap turned into a ls swap, which was a good time to install the Borgeson box, which turned into cheap control arms, later model spindles/hubs A/C etc,,,

I have no idea what to reinstall as far as spring height. So I'll get something adjustable. Hopefully it'll go up to close to stock ride height. I only want to lower it an inch or so. The Vikings seem to be a good deal, but their ad implies they adjust from 1.5" to 3". Not sure if I'm misunderstanding this, or if they are all the same and only Viking spells it out like that.

I have QA1 single adjustable coil overs. They install so much easier than regular spring/shocks and you can dial in the perfect ride height in minutes.
