Default Borgeson Bracket/Frame Fit

Finally got around to installing the reinforcing bracket for my Borgeson box.

I have encountered an interference between the frame and the extreme lower aft corner of the bracket. In the first picture, you can see a factory depression but that depression does not carry down the full height of the frame so the bracket doesn’t have a completely parallel surface to mate to.

(The washers are there only temporarily to keep the bracket from bending as without them, the bracket makes hard contact at the lower aft corner first).

A solution could be to trim the bracket approximately on the lower tape line. I don’t want to take a BFH to the frame.

Anyone encountered this? My car is a very late production - SN 38318.

Factory indentation does not extend downward (below my finger)

Will need to cut back the bracket to the lower tape line.

Something tells me you frame is tweaked at that point. There should not be a divot at that bolt hole. Just a smooth frame. I think I would keep the washers in place to fill the gap ranter than trim the bracket. Here is mine on a '72.

In your pic, the access hole in the frame for the power steering bracket studs is visible. On my car it is not. Can you please measure the distance from the back edge of the bracket to the front edge of the clutch cross shaft bracket.

I had the same problem with the Ridetech bracket on my C2 and decided not to use the bracket.

If it was mine I'd bend the bracket to align with the frame. If your frame is overall ok then this may gave you an additional 1/16" or 1/8" before the tire makes contact.....

Just talked to RideTech. They acknowledged they've had other similar issues reported so I'm just going to create a cardboard template and trim the bracket. I'll post the results.

Success!

3 minutes with my bench grinder and a couple more with files. Less than 1/4” material removal.
