I just want to start a thread documenting my removal of the ECM and Theft Module with lots of help from @Fly skids up! I'm almost there.
I'll start with the ECM location which is in the battery compartment in front of the battery. It's kind of hard to see in there and it's even more fun to remove.
This it the rear face of the ECM, the large holes had rubber expanding nuts and I had to use vise grips on the metal part of the nut while unscrewing the fastener.
Here is the front of the ECM and you can just see one nut that holds the ECM to the frame.
So starting here I removed the tape from the cable bundle and doing one wire at a time I verified the wire I was pulling on was a wire in the connector that came out of the ECM and cut the wire from the plug and pulled it out. The few wires left in this photo go to the fuel pump relay and the orange wire goes to the battery positive through a fuse which is not in at the moment. There is also in the jack compartment the theft module, the wiper control and the power antenna control. All I can say is be careful. Also there are two bundles of wires and the ECM is under the dash wires.
After getting the wires from the EMC back to the dash board I moved to the engine area.
To get the wires back from the passenger side of the car to the drivers side I had to take the wiper motor loose and pass the wire bundles behind the wiper motor. At this point I had all the tape off except for about 9" that was in the dash are. Thinking I could just pull the wire bundle back into the car or out the engine area didn't work at all. The cable did not budge...
