On my Quadrajet, what is this piece that goes into the manifold and has hoses going to the carb? Because I swapped it over to my other motor but the manifold doesn’t have a hold for it to go into so I took it off. Is it fine to run with out it?
That looks like the choke tube that supplies air to the choke housing. Cool air is drawn in one end (usually the air cleaner housing) and heated as it passes through the tube on its way to the choke housing that contains the spring. As the car warms up, so does the air... causing the spring to move. You will need to replace the choke with an electric one. Hope this helps.
