Default 76 L48 Shifter Cable

Hi everyone, what is a good C3 aftermarket OE shifter cable76? My car is a 76 and the transmission + shifter setup is stock. I purchased a new cable one from O'Reilly Auto parts and it was too long even when adjusting the shifter linkage. The brand on that on is Pioneer and the part # is CA1145.

Morning, check out shiftworks. Mine works great I like that it eliminates the bellows which rotted off the car before it left the garage after restoration.

Good morning corvette75 - thanks. Is it the correct one?

https://shiftworks.com/collections/c...e-for-corvette

If so, please confirm it can be adjusted shorter. The description says it is 29 inches. The one I got from O'Reilly Auto Parts is 28.75 inches. I need 28 inches to make it work in my car.

Thanks.

It's been a couple of years since I installed it, and I have a 4L65e trans in the car not the original 400. If I remember correctly mine has a fairly sharp bend to it and it works good. If you would like I can try to get a Pic.

I got to the bottom of the 76 O'Reilly shift cable being longer than my old one. I took the O'Reilly cable and my old cable to Gulf Coast Corvette here in town.

We compared them to the 68 - 76 cable and 77 - 82 cables they had in stock. My old cable was the same length as their 77-82 cable. The O'Reilly cable was the same length as the 68 - 76 cable they had in stock.

Conclusion: Looks like my 76 got caught up in the early vs late 76 model designation with the shifter cable.

I forgot all about the early vs late 76 crap and that 76 some cars can have both early 76 and late 76 parts on the same car
