Henry,
My friend Lars, a well-known, experienced, expert had a whole write up about it. I don't know if he still does, that is his business, but you might still find it. I am assuming you are speaking of the fronts arms, sometimes people call the trailing arms, control arms.
I lit mine on fire let the rubber burn the center will fall right out leaving the outside metal and a quick tickle with the air chisel turn them into projectiles.

When I replaced my OEM front control arms many years ago with poly, I did the same^^^^^^...just use a propane torch to burn out the old ones once the control arms are removed from the vehicle...........super easy with minimal effort
Re front poly bushings:
if the repairman is careful-mindful, he can get the old rubber out w/ a hole saw and a penknife, and Not damage the outer shells. Then, the new poly pieces (which, unlike OE rubber, are Not bonded) will slide right into the old, undamaged outer shells; likewise the New steel inner shells. No freakin' fire either. It's a dirty job regardless.T-shirt.
