The LeMans cars had to be making some serious hp to hit over 200.
I heard exec rides that hit 217?
It was a slightly modified L46, side pipes, aluminum intake, 780 Holley, 350 CID 350 gross HP from factory.

Here's a link to calculate horsepower needed for miles per hour:

Of course if you want to see God you can always play Black Sabbath at 78 speed.

Interesting formula. It says 300 hp should get me there.
I seriously doubt that!
Long ago there was a series of posts on C3 aeros.
We BS calculated that if 200 mph was done on 600 hp.
From that it came out that 300 would get 160mph/
A C3 is not very aero,
But I thing 160 is doable w/OD.
Thanks for the info.
Anyone have C3 CD numbers?

Man I tried picking my car up to 120 and I was $$itting bricks, I only made it to 112. Car (370hp) definetly had more to go, but I was not ready to meet my maker yet. That is that all my steering components(MOOG) are brand new, tires are New BF Goodrich, and I even replaced my rear leaf spring with the new Van Steele one (360lb). All the underbelly of my car is practically new. I don't think these cars were meant to pass 140 Mph even 120 sounds iffy.

With the engine off, wheels straight ahead, steering column unlocked, using two fingers, how much movement in the steering wheel?

Default Common Problem!

Most folks say the same thing that it got light after 110mph.
I agree have a solid steering and suspension.
Dropping the front end and a spoiler seems to be a common solution.

I can't see how a C3 Corvette "gets light"at those speeds. When I was young and dumb and full of you know what, I had my Challenger R/T (a aerodynamic brick) past 140 MPH and it felt fine. Maybe it's as we get older the fear of meeting God gives that light feeling. Do you think Zora's would allow the Corvette to poorly handle above 120?

Yes I think Zora would have produced a car that gets light in the front end at high speed.
A fair few of these cars were actually delivered a bit nose high.
Wind gets underneath these cars and lifts up. A good front spoiler and some proper rake helps greatly.

I don't know, a fair few of us are smart enough to drop that high nose and install a spoiler!
I've owned a few Mopars myself. Not bad cars. Just that the interiors are a bit bland compared to our Corvettes.
(from that time period).
