I'll try to get some photos for you tomorrow, if no one beats me to it. I have an 80 (with a replacement center valance panel) and an 82 that hasn't been touched in 30 years.
I'll have a look in the factory assembly manual I have and see what I can find. I'm sure it didn't come from Bowling Green with bailing wire holding the rear up.
I looked in my 82 factory assembly manual and it's not clear what's missing. It shows 4 bolts coming up from the bottom and bolting into something. I'll have to look again today if it's supposed to bolt to the bottom of the radiator frame.
I'm thinking a PO made or modified that piece, and you just need a proper, complete "Air Baffle", or lower center valance, or whatever you want to call it.
My 80 AIM shows the same image as in the link to keenparts.com above. I don't have my 82 AIM handy, perhaps it has 4 bolts instead of 2, but the valance is the same part, 80-82, and it bolts to the radiator support.
This is the view from the front. It might be that Bubba cut the sides off but I don't see any place on the radiator support to bolt it to... just a couple of what looks like drain holes.
Not the best photos, but the outside bolts seem to match what's in the diagram above. I have 4 bolts, which is not in the 80 or 82 AIM, but matches what you saw somewhere?. This is a replacement fiberglass valance panel, made to OEM spec.
I'll try to get better photos of my 82 this weekend.
I just went out and looked at mine and now I see the two bolt holes in the front of the radiator support that the Center Valance Panel bolts to. I have one on order from Zip and it should be here today. I bought the rubber skirt quite a while ago but in the back of my head I knew something was wrong under there so didn't try to install them.
