I've ordered the sound deadening for my 78 and want to know if I need to take off the factory spray on coating before installing the new sound deadening material. Is it a must or not.
If it's clean enough for the new stuff to stick leave it , not sure what your using I use Dynamat great stuff I did my tranny tunnel and firewall. No more hot feet.
Given what may be addition of so much sound-deadening material - what's a mere few pounds of old tramp NVH stuff ?
Rebelyel,
Please try and understand what the question is before you assume the wrong thing. I never said it was a weight issue. If you truly want to help me, then will the new stuff stick to the old stuff, will it react and cause a problem etc.
av81,
Dynamat agrees with your recommendation. I called Dynamat and their tech guy said clean it off and try some duct tape on it. If it sticks, then the new stuff will stick just fine. He also said there should not be any incompatibility between the two.
