Cars been at the paint shop for 2 weeks just to touch-up the nose. I am getting a hell of a deal, repaint entire nose and spoiler, chips RF, RR fenders and chips on driver's door. All for $399 which was the estimate for just the ding on the nose I got estimated 15 months ago by him. So I am endebted to the painter for hooking me up however he said one week which would have been last Monday and on that day he said Saturday (today) and of course I planned the weekend around that, buffing out the rims today with my brand new buffer, taking my girlfriend out to the clubs tonight, go on beach cruise with some of our local forum members tomorrow. Well this morning I call and the secretary says she will call me back, that was at 9:00AM. At 12:00PM I call back and she says "oh he just got back in and says the Vette will be ready Tuesday" :mad
FUDGE! I have been looking forward to this all week and I can't bitch at him or I might lose my deal $$$$ so I'm in between a rock and a hard place because he knows I know he's giving me a great deal and at his mercy. I will tell him when I pick the car up Tuesday HE set the date not me and planned my whole weekend around that and now it's all screwed up.
God I hate this sh$%! so darn pissed! Sorry but had to get this off my chest.
ever think that things just got too busy at the shop? body shops do work on more then one car at a time. most likely something happened to another car that was there first, and he had to fix it, which is why yours is taking longer. lighten up. I'd rather wait the extra 3 days instead of taking home an F-ed up paint job
Corey you are right andI already thought that myself. It's just that I have been so much looking forward to cruising and here it is Saturday, sunny, 7 blocks to the beach all the makings for a beautiful cruise and then this. I guess I'm used to when someone sets a deadline date they meet it. Being in the Navy you have a deadline you meet it or otherwise it's our ****.
i can agree there.. being a painter myself its hard to keep track of things. I was doing a new nose on a 01 S10 pickup which involved changing the radiator support. it was my first time working on one of those trucks and it took me 3 days longer then it should have. i ended up losing my job because of that. but Sh!% happens.
Good luck on getting that worked out. Hopefully it doesn't end up to what I've been dealing with for the past several months:
Right before moving from california to pennsylvania, I hit a deer. Doh! The headlight assemblies were completely trashed (but probably saved me from having the deer end up on my head), although the body had only minor chips and scratches. Now the lacquer paint on the car is illegal in california, so the insurance had to pay to repaint the entire car. I needed a new paint job anyway, so I thought this was great. Well, they took 4 months to finish. I flew back there in december to check on it, and saw they screwed it up pretty badly (and charged the insurance company almost 10k ). They're still "fixing it" (ie letting it sit around because they're not getting any more money out of it) :mad :mad.
I used to work at a body shop and dead lines were almost never met. #1 because the owner was an idiot when it came to business, #2 you cant turn down a customer, and #3 short staffed.
Aharte, Get your car out of there! i know after a certain ammount of time the body shop can put a lein on it and basically steal it from you. i know a corvette shop owner who kept jackin up the price of a few repairs for a C1 owner. the owner couldn't pay so the shop owner basically legally stole it from him! :mad he then parted it out and made beaceau bucks off of it. :mad
They had it for 4 months, then I had it for a couple weeks, and now they have it again (for maybe a month and a half). They claim they'll be done in two weeks. If not, I'm not giving them any more chances. I don't have high hopes for them though. When I got the car back, besides the poor paint job, half the screws on the headlight doors were missing (causing a bunch of scratches before I noticed), polishing powder was all over my carpet, and the hood would only close in about 1 in 10 tries :mad . I normally wouldn't stand for this except for it being free.
well if you got it back out then i doubt they will do it. they would just grab it and make the insurance CO pay you out. if a shop did that to my vette, i wouldnt give it back. i would bitch to the ins. CO. that they need to find a new shop. they obviously dont give a rats **** about the vette, and cannot to a quality job on it because of this. not trying to worry you, but that may be how it is.
Just looked at the weather forcast for Monday and it will undoubtedly rain. That means that my Vette's dealine for Tuesday will become Friday which will turn into next month. God I hate this sh$%!!
