I am reinstalling my exhaust manifolds. At the bottom where they attach to the down pipe flange ther is a small flanged sleeve and a flange donut. I got the 2 inch donuts that are correct for my 2 in exhaust. The problem is that the flange sleeve simply falls through the donut. I have one donut that was installed before and it won't allow the sleeve to drop through. This seems right to me but it's 1-7/8 ID. I can't find them anywhere. All vendors say 2in is correct. Do I have the wrong flange or will a 2in donut squeeze down. I could really use a little help here. Thanks This is how the 1-7/8 donut fits on the flanged sleeve. I think it has to fit like this. Bottom of exhaust manifold Downpipe flange Smaller donut suspending flanged sleeve in downpipe.
Take a look here.... I did this replacement a couple of years ago... you should really use the SLEEVE per Willcox.... otherwise it looks like you'll burn up the donut (packing).
Your sleeve appears to be flared, it shouldn't be. A straight 2" connector may solve the fitment issue. Go to your regular local auto parts (NAPA, Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc.) and get a straight sleeve — about $6. Depending on the depth of the manifold opening and the pipe flare, you may have to trim some off the connector, but it cuts easily with a hacksaw.
