wiring question on the Gas Tank Meter with Pump. I am having an issue getting this new unit to work. This is the assembly on the tank. There are 3 black wires (one w/a white stripe. I take it 2 of these get connected, Does the 3rd attach somewhere else. Photos attached..
Clearly you have 2 wires to the pump. One power and one ground. Then one wire to the sending unit. This is the signal wire to the gauge. The sending unit is grounded to the plate. Generally there will be a ground wire on the top of the plate.
This is what it should look like, I have spare for mine. Side note, the 1982 tank has a bladder in it and doesn’t care for ethanol fuel. The bladder starts to vitrify and flakes off. Eventually contaminating everything, I replaced my tank as well with a steel tank, it a fun job…
