Still trying to get my swap to a tilt tele to work. Rebuilt the column correctly (I think) and I laid it in the cockpit but did not bolt it in place or connect the shaft. Connected the ignition switch (I did do a 180 with the connectors) and the turn signal wiring. Immediately the key in place buzzer starts. The key is pulled and it continues. Only when I close the door does it stop. Four ways work but not the turn signals. Ignition switch does not work properly in that it does not turn over the engine. I put the original column back and the same thing happens (does not start or turn signals work). Any ideas?
Go over the wiring again starting from the top of the harmonic connector. Slowly verify each color is correctly matched up. IF it behaves the same with the original column, it must be in that connection.
If the Harmonica Connector is not OEM, the pin /wire locations are different on the restoration connectors. Thanks to our Beloved Friend, Ernie at Willcox, for taking the time to let me know about the pin/wire locations. You can use a year specific wiring schematic to ensure the wires are inserted into the Harmonica Connector correctly, just make sure each fire is mated to the correct wire going up the steering column
The tilt steering column uses a different ignition switch than the standard column. Have you changed the switch? The switches look similar but somehow the switch is mounted differently. I don't know what they did internally in the switch.

AFAIK the difference is the switch is mounted 180° between the non tilt and the tilt. I just purchased a new switch and the instructions mentioned that if the plugs are on the wrong side you bought the wrong switch.
Update. Yesterday I discovered I probably have a battery dying. I was trying to do all of my testing with a charger on it. I'm thinking I was not putting out enough amps to turn the engine over and whatever other problems come with a weak battery. Later this week I will get a new one and start over. Taking some time off from this project (almost 2 weeks) will probably be good. Thank you all for your input.
