If you go to http://www.corvettefaq.com and look under Steering. There is a paper entitled: Manual Gear Service Parts - Where to purchase C3 Manual Gear Assemblies and Component Parts. That was all of the information that I was able to find in January of this year.
Thank's. Not sure I've heard of Blairs, are they on the internet? The torque wrench looks like it may be a problem to find. I already have 3 (rachet inch and foot pounds and a beam foot pounds) who would have thought a guy would need more than that.
hey i have steering box rebuild kits. http://www.vansteel.com rebuild kit is $75.99 comes with new bearings, seals, gasket and sleeves. check it out and see if you like it Part number GBK-01 :chevy
I replaced the seal which fits around the worm gear shaft. Wanted to
correctly set the torque of the worm shaft but could not find a torque
wrench that would measure below 20 inch pounds. I found I could
order one thru Napa but it was expensive for a seldom used tool.
Wound up counting the number of turns it took to remove the worm
bearing adjuster and installing it the same number of turns.
Would like to know of a source for a reasonably priced torque wrench that
will read low enough.
