Headers on a 1974
I have purchased a BP38318 ctcv engine. It has .50" raised exhaust ports. I would like to buy off the shelf long headers or even middy headers. With the headers being raised that 1/2 inch I am not sure of the clearances, Many of the places I have looked can say it will fit a C3 chassis but can not give me a detailed diagram or specs of there products. Many sources have suggested Doug's , Sanderson and a company called Ultimate headers. What I have found is that only Sanderson makes a header that is specifically made for the BP engine and c3 configuration but it is a shorty header. Doug's (pertronix) can't give me dimensions. And Ultimate can make them for between $2000- $3000 . Is it worth using the shorty headers or paying the high cost of a custom long headers? I have gone down a rabbit hole and looking for some solid advice. Thanks

Can you return that 383? If you have $2-3K for headers, you should LS swap your car, and run Billy Boat headers.
Shorty headers are not worth it compared to stock manifolds (especially 2 1/2" rams horns).
