Default Re-Gluing Detached Side Marker Lens

A while back my left rear side marker lens fell off - the rubbery yellowish glue must have dried out. I now have a used replacement assembly and it's lens seems snug and tight. But I checked the other side markers and Yep - the right rear is also very lose and about to fall off. So I need to glue at least that one (heck maybe I should pry them all off and re-glue!)

I was going to re-glue with some clear silicone household caulk...? Unless anyone has a better suggestion...

Thanks,

PS the pic below shows the previous one (now missing lens) and the new-used - some slightly differences in casting details (no "SAE AP70"). Is one of them a repro vs an original?

As I recall, I used 3M Emblem and Trim adhesive. It's been a few years and I haven't lost any more since.

While the lens is out, giving it a good polish is pretty easy. I worked from 1500 up to 3000 and then followed that up with Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish.

3M - thanks for the tip - that looks perfect! And a local auto parts store stocks it.

I was just thinking something like clear silicon caulk - but the 3M looks made for this - albeit if I need to remove a lens later could be a challenge... May also carefully work the others off & re-glue as a preventative measure too.

One odd thing I noticed was they have a metal blocking plate inside the plastic lens with a small rectangular cutout - evidently the light is supposed to only shine thru that smaller cutout then reflect on the red plastic.

Thanks again - I'll pick some 3M up
