Is the breather necessary?
I'm using a set of aftermarket valve covers on my 69 coupe. PCV is on one side and the breather is on the other. My problem is that oil oozes from the breather onto the valve cover.
The original set of valve covers did not have a breather, just oil filler and PCV. Since having the motor rebuilt, it was necessary to add a set of high rise valve covers to clear the roller rockers....Anyway, is the breather really necessary or can I just plug it up?

Yes, the original didn't have a breather, but it did have a pipe that went from the valve cover into the aircleaner that did the same job.
