I have seen pictures of the vin number or some other number stenciled on the frame during total restorations. I have assumed the factory did the same thing. If so, where on the frame should I look for the remnants of this number? Also, is the vin number stamped into the frame somewhere (location)?
Jim (PROSOUTH) has indicated that the VIN # is stamped into the
top surface of the drivers side rear kick-up (just above the rear wheel).
I have never verified this, but I'll try to take a peek at the 70 tonight.
You scared me Rick - thought you were going NCRS hardcore - looking to restore the factory markings.
:seeya
The frame is stamped in two locations. Where Dave indicated & also on top of the frame on the drivers side in front of the # 3 body mount. The frame stencil is on the passenger side upside down on the outside of the frame in front of the #3 body mount. You'll need to remove the rocker panel to see it. I have a pic I'll try to post or I can email it to you.
This is the stamping infront of the #3 mount
this in on top of the frame kick up
this is the frame stencil
Sory about the pic quality, I'm not a very good photographer
