OK...heres the deal...
i spoke with the people in charge of events at Old Town today and heres what i found out...
even tho sat nites are reserved for 1972 and older they would be happy to have us there...seeing as we are a club

i set the date with them for april 5th...THIS IS A DEFINATE DATE FOLKS...
they are going to include us in their schedule and advetisement...

BTW...we are the C-3 Corvette Forum Club...

they are going to corden off an area in the show area just for us so that we can all be together...too
they wanted to know how many of us there would be and i told them that it was just too early to tell yet but i would let them know at least a week in advance and that was fine with them...i said there could be anywhere from 5 to 20 of us...im hoping that more than 3 or 4 of us show up for this! LOL

now for the down side...
only 1972 and older can be in the cruise...
i have a feeling that there will be a lot of 72's at the sign up gate
i will not participate in the cruise as i will bee spectating and taking pix with my new digital camera to post for all of you to download later...

for those of you that dont know...having your car in the show is FREE...

for those of you that will be spending the night there are plenty of motels in that area including one that is almost connected to Old Town via a walking path that has "park models" for rent...its pretty cool...
its kind of a "campground" type place...
the rates are from $79-$99 for that sat nite...
one cool thing about this place is that if "someone" in your "party" wants to go back to "the room" and you dont, its just a few steps down the path...

this is where we will be staying...

im not sure but being a "campgroung" there may be fire rings where we could have a campfire that night and sit around and "chew the fat"
im wondering if they have group rates? hhhmmm?

as i stated before...the wife and i are roller coaster fans and WILL be going to Universal Studios the next day...(we have annual passes)
for those of you that dont know...they have a few pretty good coasters...

as the date grows closer i will really need to know so that they can save the apropriate space for us...

this will be a really cool chance for some of us to meet each other and have a lot of fun...for those of you that have never been there, it is a pretty cool place to walk around and to congrigate together around our carz...
it should be a lot of fun...

Yes for sure!! This place is pretty cool and you will definitely see lots of cars :steering: and you can do the death swing while you are there :hurray: :hurray:

Barring any unforseen airplane crashes (I am going to be in San Fransisco the weekend of the 29th) I wil DEFINITLEY be there. My car, she ain't so purty but she'll make the trip in record time! Do they have an "Ugly vette" category? :lol:

granted...we dont know them but they know each other and i, for one, would love to look at some C-2's...i LOVE those cars!

Count me as a maybe. Good reason to get the C3 out for a 'road trip'. I'll work on convincing the wife in the meantime.

If there is a common accomodation plan that shapes up, I'm for that as we (or I) would stay over and head back to Tampa the next day.

 

Hey - it's less than 80 miles to Old Town for you... That's very close... It's well over 200 miles to Old Town for me...

 

You would get the "Longest Ride" award for the evening! :hurray:

 

I am about 12 miles from Old town. That could take a hour at times.

 

I have been often enough to the Orlando area and I'm familiar with the traffic... It's almost as bad as Miami traffic..

we made our reservations today at Tropical Palms for sat and sun nites...
we figure we wouldnt want to drive all the way home sunday after riding roller coasters... :eek:

with our AAA discount, the place was $59 per nite! not bad...
for those that are interested...their pool is open 24 hours according to their web site...midnite swim anybody? :D

if you make reservations there it wouldnt be a bad idea to say that you are with "the club"...i dont know if it will do you any good but she DID wave the $10 fee for not staying 3 nights when i mentioned that there may be more of us wanting to stay there... :D
