When I had a small block in my 68, a Maserati BiTurbo jumped me on a local highway a few summers ago. My Vette left him like he was in reverse, and topped out at 130 mph. Wouldn't go another mph.
Now that it's got a 427 big block in it, with 3.36 gears and a self-imposed 7200 rpm redline, it should theoretically top out at 173 mph. And I understand you wouldn't want to take one of these too much faster than that. Realistically though? I'll bet I'd see at least 165 mph, maybe a bit more.

A little over a 100, but 85 is plenty fast for a cruise. :yesnod:

When I had my 84, I did a top end run one night. It kept jumping out of OD near the redline. When I shut off the overdrive manually, the digital speedo read 140 and I was near six grand :eek: . I didn't think a CeaseFire could rev that high.

I just ordered a new solid roller cam today. It was pretty fast before. I was able to pass lots cars down the main straight at the road racing track just in third gear. I glanced down just before stomping on the brakes for the end of straight 40-50 mph turn and I was over my 140 mph speedo.
I juggled lots of possible choices in my quest for top end speed. DD2000 gave it some good numbers.
