The other day when I went to open my hood, the release cable broke. The problem is that it broke under the hood where it attaches to the mechanism. I tried to get to the cable that runs across from the right to left side, but couldn't get to it from the cowl. Does anyone have any ideas of how I might get this hood open?.......Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know about all sharks, but on my 73 there is a hole in the cowl with a plug in it that is directly behind the latch mechanism. Supposedly you can push a metal rod though this hole and push on the latch to release it. I've never tried it, but it's what I've heard.
My 78 has the rubber plugs too. They are in the windshield wiper well directly in line with the catch. a long screwdriver (12") usually will do it I'm told
Hey indy73 - Welcome to the forum! Do a search on hood opening or similar. I know there was a post that gave a web location (from Zip, I believe) that described how to open your hood. Had photos and everything.
I think it's in MID-AMERICA site - but I may be mistaken.
The early and late C3s are slightly different - but same idea: access
through hole in firewall - behind latch.
I'm not sure, but don't you have to be a member or something to get to it? I printed it out after seeing it so I'd have it. Perhaps a member can get you back in.
