Anybody that thinks rebuilding a motor with 30+ year old technology has issues! :skep:

Mine has so much more power than stock and overall just a joy to drive for the past 10 some years since I rebuilt it. I went with KB flat tops .030 over good rings & bearings. Fully balanced and blue printed 1 5/8 headers. Port and polished 186 double hump castings with screw in studs and guide plates. 2.02/1.6 Manley race flow valves. 10 degree locks and chromemoly retainers with the Crane 238/248 @ 050 solid lifter cam. It has a nice idle because of the 114 lobe centers and I'm running 1.6 roller tips to get a little more lift out of it.

It's runner with a wide big power band.

I am running a solid 242/254 .459/.485 116LC, basically LT-1 Cam with 72 cc Sportsman Heads. I am changing over to the aluminum L98 58cc heads as I need more compression to make this cam work. It runs great at the top end, but just needs a little more south of 3000 rpm. Even with the 1972 style compression I still think the LT-1 Cam is a nice piece.
