Could be a lot of things. If it sways when you stomp on it it might be a rear control arm rusted through. I had to replace one once for that reason. The rear control arms are constructed of not much more than thick sheet metal in a box-like channel shape. In any case, it is worth the time to keep searching because something somewhere must be loose.

what does it do when you turn?
Does the clunk come from the rear?
could be the posi unit. Check diff fluid. Might want to change it and add posi lube.
Could be something loose on the car. its a fairly simple setup. Check all bolts and parts in the rear.
