Anyone here uses Metrinch tools? I'd like to replace most of my tools with Metrinch, but I'd like to hear from long time users first. I'm not sure about their long-term quality or overall compatibility with different sizes (their tools fit both standard and metric)
The only experience I've had with Metrinch was great. Once I tried to remove the catalityc converter off my old RX-7. One of the nuts was rounded off and rusted shut. Neither my Craftsman nor my friend's Snap-on tools could get any grip on the rounded nut. Then a friend stopped by who happened to have a Metrinch set in his car. Man, let me tell you, I was pushing that wrench with my foot as hard as I could and it was clamping on to that nut like it was welded to it until the whole exhaust started twisting so bad that I had to stop  That convinced me, but I'd like to hear some testimonials first.

Pricewise I'd say that they fall between Husky/Craftsman and Snap-on/Mac. The set I want to get first has 14 comb. wrenches from 8mm-5/16" to 23mm-7/8" and goes for $50.00. There's a 15 piece set that skips a few less-common sizes and goes up to 32mm-1 1/4" for $95. This page has a nice selection with prices shown: http://www.cooltoolsets.com
I have not used Metrinch, but I have used Snap On Flank drive. They are a similar design, but only on the box end. They work great. I also just got a set of Gearwrench and absolutely love them.
I got them last year and am perfectly happy! Much better than regular style.
I'd buy them again anytime.
OT: Do you also go buy yourself such "toys" when you just got thoroughly frustrated by not having the correct size <whateveritsthistime> at hand? That's usually how I buy my really good tools.....to pi**ed to care about price and usually happy about it even years afterwords.

After I broke 4 socket extenders (cheap ones) while changing some brakes (on a 1998 ford), I sent to wife to buy me a nice set of sockets... she came back with some good ones with a lifetime warranty...
Dear 4DLuv,
I have had a set of Metrinch spanners ( or wrenches as you call them ) for several years. Sockets, too. They are great! Not only do they fit Imperial and metric, but also Whitworth. If any of you have any old British cars, most likely they have Whitworth size bolts. With more and more of your new Corvettes ( and other cars ) having metric nuts and bolts, You NEED a set of Metrich tools. The quality is great, the chrome plating permanent ( so far ) and the relegation of my Imperial and metric tools to the far corner of my toolbox. Buy them!
I've had a set of ring/open end spanners for a while and they are great if you need to really swing off them to undo something. However, they are basically useless in a confined space due to the extra "play" in the way they fit.
I saw their products some time ago at a car festival.
I think their quality is great, but they are pricey.
What me convinced NOT to buy them is that if you have very little space to turn the spanner, you can´t use them because they need some rotation angle to fit depending on the spanner size.
The spanner will fit for instance a M16 screw without any lash, but if you use the same spanner for an inch screw the spanner has to be turned a little bit to get proper contact on the flange surface.
So - if there is no place to turn the spanner you´ll loose some important rotation angle.
Nevertheless - maybe I´ll buy a set in the future. :leaving:
4DLuvOfSpeed, I have a set and I love them, I have Craftsman, (love them too), but Metrinch tools are great, I take them with me in my older cars, my boat, whatever. The case makes it easy. Plus They fit the SAE, metric, and the other configs., and they have the lifetime warr. as you know. Last time I was at Sears, they now carry them there.
