Default 1980 Interior

We are doing a project car, 1980 Red exterior and want to CHANGE the interior from RED to ?. If YOU had this chance what color would you go? We will be REDYING ALL PARTS. The budget we will stay in is $275.00. ( WE AMY PURCHASE NEW CARPET if we have to go from RED to WHITE on the carpet. The balance can be dyed ANY color.

Black is a classic IMO. Or Sadle may look nice. I,m kind of color blind so I don't know if Sadle matches red.

I think that a charcoal color would look good with red. Maybe to hot in the Summer, but a good color combo.

Doeskin. My Garnet red 1980 (not original color) has Doeskin and I'll be using it when I replace the interior. Lightens up and provides a great contrast to the exterior. My car was originally claret exterior.

Sorry, I like the red in my '79. But I have seen an '80 with a dark burgundy color inside -- is that the red you're referring to? Didn't like that color too much...

I would stay with red.

But if you ask around, you will find that I am biased.

Black would definitely be too hot but a good charcoal grey would lookgood I think.

Well it will be SADDLE or Doeskin. The wife , OWNER, likes Doeskin, code 56.
With the RED carpet we will order carpet for the car. Our dye will MATCH the existing color but that would be to much of a change from red.
PS she is looking at the Grey also!

Oops! Sorry Rod. I guess it is claret. But you know how it goes -- personal taste and all that. My wife LOVES oyster -- I could take it or leave it. And I won't even reveal my LEAST favorite colours (claret is not one of them).

By the way, it's a 1980-only colour. :yesnod:

My 80 interior is black and I think it looks better with the dashpad.

Haven't tried dyeing anything yet but I will be. Any tips on that? Does black cover better?

My 80 had claret interior. I dislike that color with any combo. I think all of the above are good suggestion. My favorite is OYSTER, but I think gray, doe, saddle, or silver are good candidates as well.

n8370c,
Great looking interior. Im jealous. I still have the original unrestored oyster interior. looks ok but some minor wear and tear.

Bad joke of the day.
I told someone I have a black corvette with oyster leather interior. the reply was... " I didnt know GM could get leather from oysters! :jester
