I marked the hinge locations on my hood when I removed it, but am wondering how difficult it would be to line things back up if I remove and replace the hinges. I am considering buying new hinges, or removing and repainting the existing hinges. If it's a PIA, then I will clean the existing ones up as best as possible and repaint them on the car. Anybody have much experience with this?
The hinges have virtually no "adjustment" room on the innder fender mounts. Take 'em off and they'll pretty much go back right where they were. You can lay a little masking tape around the perimeter of the hinge itself before you unbolt it if you want some insurance.
I've taken my hood off several times, but don't do it by yourself. It's light enough for one person but you don't want to scratch your paint. I scratched around the hindges so it marked their location to give me a pattern to line things back up. Using masking tape is a good idea too! I painted my hindges instead of replacing them.

:iagree: Get someone to help. Don't take a chance by doing it yourself. I did it by myself once and it was no fun at all.
Good question and replies. When repainting your hinges, what color did you repaint them, Grey or some other color?
How did you store your hood while it was off? Im concerned with cracking or chipping the fiberglass.

I painted mine black. As far as the hood goes, I just folded up two old blankets (thick moving blankets) on the floor at the base of the wall, set the nose in the center of the blanket, then threw another blanket over the hood and stood the hood up against the wall. I had put eye hooks on the wall. Then I just tied thin rope between the eye hooks to hold up the hood. If you are going to have the hood off for a long time you might want to try something else.
Thanks for the replies. I took my hood off with help and stored it suspended it outside under cover. I am planning on painting the hinges gray. Taking them off the car will make it much easier.
