it used to play tapes at higher speeds making it sound like alvin and the chipmunks. now it's making a repeated clack-clack-clack-clack noise from the speakers. ideas?
Re: need help with 8-track player... again. (Pacin'California)
FYI You need the rollers clean including the one in the 8tk tape & the belt drive.
Anyone having noise w/ lights on? The one that came in the 77 did.
Fixed it & then discarded all.
Re: need help with 8-track player... again. (Ganey)
You know, its funny, the historical knowledge on fixing 8 tracks is about gone. I ran one in my 68 for about 2 years, and it held up for awhile until i strated getting all of the typical 8 track problems.
The onlt place I founf that could fix it was Hemmings Motor News. LOkk under radios. There is a whole bunch of listing: advice, call a few of those numbers first for pricing. You wouldnt believe the range of prices,
I cant remember where I sent mine, but was in Ohio, Cost $75, and worked like a charm
I really liked the looks on peoples faces when they would notice my 8 track with a box of tapes in a carrying case
You will find though, alot of 8 track probs are in the tapes themselves, not the player
