I was all set to junk the stk ex man and install 1 5/8 Cyclone Ceramic coated after my next and last smog inspection. Now the state is talking about continuing inspections for many years. I would hate to get the new system installed and find out that I'm not legal and can't pass smog. This means to use headers, they will have to have AIR. Who makes a good fitting header for my 74 w/AC? I want 1 5/8". Even better would be 1 1/2". This is for my daily driver so fit/finish is important. If they don't come coated, I'll send them out. I want to do this right! Any help out there?
>Hedman makes a set with air rails - 1 5/8" primaries 3" collectors -
>Sanderson makes a set of shorties 1 1/2" primaries air rails optional (no E.O number though) -
>GM factory shorties - 1 1/2" primaries (maybe that big - probably smaller) 2" collector - best used to throw at passing Fords.....
The Hedman can be purchased coated, has an E.O number and are off the shelf items. I have not heard of any other mfr with an E.O number on their headers for California.
They look like this installed (I have a cap on the air rails for right now)
fauxr- what have you done about the heat riser on your car? Do the Hedmans have a solution to this in order to satisfy smog? With the situation of the state budget, I fear we all will be smogging our cars for some years to come. :nopity
