I plan on repalcing my rear spring next when I get my power steering
leak fixed. Do I have to take anything else loose other then the bolts on
the spring itself ? Just the end bolts and the pad bolts in the middle right ?
JUst havent decided on steel or composite and where to get it.
Thanks for any input.

You are right.. It's only the 2 bolts that hold the spring on the sides and the 4 bolts that attach the spring to the differential.. It's a very easy removal/install.. It might be a little bit difficult to loosen the 4 bolts that attach the spring to the differential.. Just use a wrench with enough leverage..
I personally went with the 330 lbs/inch VBP composite spring and I love it..
That's it. Just the middle and the ends. I also have a VBP 330# composite and am happy with it as far as quality and fit go. I just put it in so I don't know about performance for sure.

Well - I also would recommend changing the front coils.. The car won't handle as good if the rear suspension is upgraded and the front suspension isn't
Vette Brakes & products is a good source of suspension parts. Other than a new spring & gas shocks. One of the best things you can do is add a Smart Strut kit.
When you loosen the bolts at the ends, you need to support the end of the spring with a jack. Use a stron clamp inboard of the jack to keep it from slipping. Undo the bolt and lower the jack to release spring pressure.

Re: Rear Spring Question (Ganey)
check out the tech tips under the "tools" menu. I did a write up on a spring swap about 2 years ago.
On pre-1980 cars I have heard that the rear end housing can crack or break and that many switched the rear end cover to a heavy duty cover. Be very careful of the torque and procedures when you install the spring or you could crack your rear end cover.
I actually just put on the VBP rear spring, smart struts and adjustable strut rods, added a rear sway bar, front coils, and front sway bar. Should be set up pretty decent.

Mine was cracked when i bought it,and the former owner had it Miged together..I came apart when i changed mine...Dont torque it before you get it on the ground..Good luck, its kinda easy, compared to a brakebooster change :smash:
