Default While-I'm-at-It disease: one step forward, two steps back

Progress in the treatment of my bad case of "While-I'm-at-It" disease. A-arms are blasted, painted, and new bushings and ball joints installed. Steering linkage and tie rod tubes are blasted, repainted, and new tie rod ende installed. Spindles, steering knuckles, and caliper mount plates are refinished as well. Engine pulleys and fan blade redone. There's your one step forward. I thought I had beat the disease and was heading toward remission.

Now, for the two steps back. A bad relapse hit yesterday. As I was cleaning up the frame I looked at the steering box. "Dang, that thing looks bad. The rag joint isn't in too great of shape either. Maybe I'll yank it out, rebuild it, and install a new rag joint. May as well pull the clutch z-bar too since it's right there. Couple this with the cracked bellhousing, and all the additional surprises, and we're almost to body-off stage. If I disconnected the fuel lines and tach drive cable I could go ahead and unbolt the motor mounts and yank it out too.

I need professional psychological help. :cry

You really need to put that thing back together and drive it before you lose sight of the summer.

There is only one simple solution to this: Buy another Corvette to drive while you fix this one.

You don't need psycological help!!!
You sound perfectly normal to me....

Oh, yeah, I have a 69 coupe too!!!!

I feel your'e pain....

I do agree, though, that summer is coming.... You'll really need a shrink if you don't get it ready for the season....

The goal is to have it all back together by the end of April. Y'all need to beat on me to keep me on schedule. Hopefully this will be the last of the steps backward (famous last words!)

I thought you said you were going to have it on the road BY April?

Now it is the end of April. Are you adjusting the schedule to fit the amount of work to be done?

Don't miss the season. . .

I know the feeling. As long as I got the motor out I might as well: Change th body mounts, Put in a new trans (200R4), detail the engine compartment, etc.
Hope to have back together before the weathwer gets to nice. :nopity

Dang dude, thanks for the supportive words of encouragement. I'm afflicted with a horrible disease here, and you kick me while I'm down. I bet you take candy from little kids and tell proud first time parents that their baby is ugly.
