Since the Vette is finally done I have turned my efforts from buying parts to bettering what I already have. I've been trying different waxs and compounds to get the unbuffed/ unpolished paint under the nose, wheelwell edges or the pop-up head light buckets to shine like the rest of the car. Here's what I found. Maguiars cut wax is okay but try taking the Carnuba (#26) or whatever you use and add 1 part rubbing compound to four parts wax and mix together on a small plate. It mixes up easily and when applied requires hardly any pressure and polishes out the paint. Let dry, remove dried wax and apply good coat of regular wax and whalaa buffed out shiny paint!! No buffer neeeded! Especially helpfull in hard to reach areas (where a buffer will not work/ fit) as like those headlight buckets.
Whats next? are you going to mold your own tires??????
I have the Mcgiver (sp?) disease
Well these things keep me still in the Corvette hobby and it's way cheaper then taking it back again and again to the painter (plus losing the car for 3 weeks for a 4 hour job). Tommorow I'm going to build a 4-link suspension out of stuff I find in my Kitchen's poopie drawer.
