Default WAX SMEAR REMOVAL...

OK, I have a show next weekend, and I went over the car with swirl remover in hope's of filling/removing any/all micro scratches. My thought was to wax post this operaration.

Well, I pulled the car out of the garage to change the oil (prior to applying the wax) and I was overwhelmed with all the smearing I could see in the sunlight.

Anybody here have a good solution to remove these smears? I was going to wipe the car down again with warm water-only (prior to wax), and see how it looks then, but I would like any advice from the members here.

Yep, you got a dark colored car. The darker the car to more the smear marks show up. After you get done, go over it with a wet sponge and then dry immediately with something like a water blade or very, very soft chamois. That should solve most of the problem. I hope that helps!

I've had good luck just going over dark colors with a damp chamois after waxing. I think both ways would work.

What wax are you using?
What is the temp?

Most of the time I see swirls in a fresh wax job. but the sun usually melts them away before too long.

If it is oily then you are applying it to heavy. try putting less on your applicator pad, and spreading it more thinly.

Hi,

Everything is under control, I think I just went into panic mode prematurely.

I used the 3M swirl remover, no swirls are on my car, but it's a good filler for the micro scratch's. After I wiped it down with some warm water, the smears went away. Now, I'll apply a coat of Mequiar's gold class liquid wax.

Temp in garage is 70-75, but outside is less than 50. Thanks :hurray:

now that was funny:rofl:

About the wax. Use you wifes favorite white towel and buff the wax until there is no swirl. Just keep turning the towel to the clean side. It takes some work, but you are pushing the wax around. Just let it dry a little, then buff, dry, buff, dry. You will end up with the best wax job ever.

Next time use just a little less wax.
