I'm going to attempt to answer my own question, but I do need some assistance if I'm right. passenger-side, under the engine, this wire is not connected. Looks like a black 14 or 12 guage wire that has no current unless the ignition is keyed. It is part of the starter motor wiring bundle. Motor starts fine, so I'm thinking this is the ground wire,w hich is keeping my blower and wipers from working.
Now, if I'm right, where can I attach this wire safely? Where is it supposed to attach and do I need to recrimp an end on it before attaching?
Re: What is this - Round 5 - Starter ground? (RCB69L36)
I think I found the wiring diagram I need in the Haynes manual. If I'm right, it looks like this should connect to a screw on the starter motor itself. Is this right?

IMO, that routing of the 12 ga wire to the starter area, which is the ground for the heater and wiper motors, and something else also in my '72 anyway....well that grounding point, under a starter mounting bolt, OR under a bellhousing bolt, is one of the most silly wiring practices I have ever seen...bring that thing up top and tie it off the intake manifold somewhere....at least it stays cleaner, and is less confusing to the next guy...
it's caused SO many comments on this board.....
and it's just stupidly confusing....don't understand that wiring decision, and never will.....

:iagree: Gene is correct....it's the ground wire for the wipers, etc....and it does connect to one of the trans bellhousing bolts. But, you can connect it to the engine anywhere, as long as it makes a good connection.
And, yes it should have a round eyelet on the end...something that a bolt can go thru.

Woohoo!! Got another couple things working. That's exactly what that wire was, the blower ground. Now, the blower works. The wipers don't but I have a feeling that is electrical.
