My roomate and I were just talking cars, and corvettes came up (yes, I will get him converted eventually). His buddy from Utah claims to have a "stock" 73 with a 454. The badges on the high rise hood say "454 fuel injection" I told him it WAS NOT STOCK that way, but he doesn't believe me. Back me up please, and any education on the fuelies and the bigblocks (like they ended in '73) would be cool too. Thanks all, EDIT: Your right, '74 mistypedo been hittin it little to much already :D

First the fuel injection came out in 1957 and stoped in 1965 becouse of poor sales. For the big blocks in Corvettes they came out in 1965 with a 396ci, but in 1966 they tought it was to heavy so they played with the 396 block and came out with 427ci which had hp in 390,400,430,435/450? in 1969 they replaced the 427 with 454ci and stoped that in 1974 by then they only had a wopping 270 hp 20 more then a 350. So there you have it tell your roomate he is fool of it. IT IS NOT STOCK! :chevy
Just to defend him, my roomate is not full of it. He was told, and not raised on the forum, so he did not no any better. His buddy was the one full of it.
I've been told every wives tale, urban legend, and falsehood imagineable and UN-imagineable.
My favorite, well discussed on these forums over the last few years, is the ol'.............
"My Dad's ,Stepsister's uncle's.mother's boyfriend's Father had one! THEM Steel bodied Corvettes are RARE you know!" :smash:
Oh yeah.....if you only had that '73 Steel Bodied Power Top Coupe with the Opera Doors........yeah, you'd have SOMETHING then,Bud! ONLY YEAR EVER OFFERD'!
No original Vettes are fuel injected except 57 283`s through 65 327`s. And none in 396`s through 454`s of any year. Early Pontiacs and Chevy passengers cars could also be ordered with Rochester injection too, but is a very rare piece. Injection is available from GM on the Ram Jet 454 crate engine however which really looks like a nice unit.
