gas tank drain?

is there a drain plug on the gas tank on a 79? thanks

Nope, no factory fuel tank has a drain valve.

I don't know about 79s but the on the early C3s you can just remove the rubber gas hose from the bottom of the tank and easily drain it. Craig

On the early C3's, if you pull the hose off the tank, it WILL NOT drain all of the fuel out (trust me...i found out the hard way !). The fuel tank pickup is not laying on the bottom of the tank ; its close...but not on the very bottom. SO, when you remove the round tank access plate...expect to get another couple quarts of fuel coming out suddenly. DONT have a droplight nearby :(

I used a siphon pump to get most of the gas out. It was harder to remove the tank then drain the tank. I also pulled the rubber line at the pump to drain most of the tank out, I used vise grips to pinch the hose shut when transferring to another gas can.
