Doesn't it seem the easiest fixes seem to be the most persistent problems?
As per http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=509693
I finally ordered
and a chrome altenator bracket. Too bad the billet altenator bracket doesn't fit my application becuase they look great. Anyway I tried 3 times to get the Spectre chrome water neck to work but under that pretty chrome finish is cheap pot metal that erodes around the O-ring and even with a standard gasket the sealing surface simply erodes away after several months and starts to leak on my polished intake. :nonod:
those chrome housings never seal. you might want to lay out a peice of sand paper and run the t-stat housing back and forth over it, until it breaks through the chrome, then glue a regular gasket to it using 3m super weatherstrip adhesive. i always use the 3m adhesive on gaskets and i don't get leaks.
hope this helps!
A bit pricey, but I bought a billet one about a year ago. I ditched the chrome.
I would like to find an oversize O-ring such as the stock is 3/32" diameter and want a 5/32". Specs are 2 2/10" by 3/32". Anyone know of a O-ring company?
