Hooker Sidepipe Install Problem
I have recently purchased the hooker sidepipes from Jet-Hot and I am having one heck of a time getting the sidepipe over the collector. I have applied anti-seize, but I can only get the pipe on about 2” before the pipe just refuses to move any more. I have hammered on it to no avail. Any ideas?

2 inches sounds about right. Are you matching the mount bracket to the holes in the side of the frame or the bottom? The correct mounting point is to the holes in the side of the frame, under the rocker panels.

I'm planning on purchasing mine next week? I can't offer any help yet. Take a pic of your problem I want to see what I'm getting into. I have a small block. Perhaps that will be easier. :smash:

Correct I am attaching the pipes to the side of the frame and I am literally 1" away from being able to get the bolt in the frame and onto the mounting bracket on the sidepipe, but it just will not budge any more.
I actually have removed the pipe to start over again somehow, so pics are not available until later tonight or tomorrow.

When I mounted my jet hot coated sidepipe headers, I could not get then on either. I put wood on it and hit it a rubber mallet and wiggled it up and down and back and forth. I use anti-sieze,spit and sweat....
I finally used a flapper wheel on a drill and removed some jet hot coating from the inside of the tube and worked it on.

The coating was so thick on the inside of my sidetubes I had to use a 3M abrasive wheel chucked in a die grinder and remove it to get them to fit properly. Anti seize will keep them from rusting at the union :cheers:

Excellent idea thinning out the inside of the sidepipe, I actually thought about this, but was concerned about removining the coating, but at this point I'm willing to try this.

Did any of you guys buy the STS baffles? Do you think the baffles will be hard to fit in the sidepipes?
