o.k. so the title is a little misleading. i've always been a believer the vette came out of the factory with the 'form' portion built in. everything i've done since then has been of the 'function' part, specifically making this pig go faster. one thing that i've been debating about for the last 4 or 5 years is the condition of the exhaust, a least the part you can see. i couldn't decide when it was installed what i wanted to do with it so the shop just put a steel 30* bend in each muffler out. this is just the regular carbon steel stuff and after a few years it's a fine 'rust' color. so i was thumbing through the j.c. whitney catalog the other day and thought maybe it's time to put a little form back into the function. what i'm looking at are outlet tips 2.5" in by 3.5" out slight angle cut and roll to the outlet (item 'H' on pg 197 of the new catalog because i know some of you have them! ;) ). so there you go. should i do this or save the $50 for some other go fast goody?
The chrome tips on my '77 look fine and I think they are factory. Probably will fit 2.5 inch pipe. I'm bending up 3" sidepipes anyways. The mufflers hang low right now and look like hell.
