I am in the middle of a clutch replacement project. The instuctions with the clutch kit and my previous experience, the pilot bushing should be FLUSH with end of the crank. The bearing should be soaked in light oil, wiped clean and then installed. Do not use any grease, any lubricant or anything that could get on the flywheel. Good luck :chevy

It should go in fairly easy....more or less like a oil seal on the tailshaft of the transmission. Check the depth of the crank and the width of the bushing. Some are different. If it is not flush that's ok if it's bottomed out.
I have had some that are flush, with more room to go on the back side. Don't buy a cheap bushing. Some will have too much iron and the imput shaft can be damaged or weld to the bushing!!! (Check with a magnet)
Soak in oil, dry off and install
