I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to electronic stuff for stereos. Since i have put in 4 new speakers and the new deck i have been getting bad distortion, and doesn't sound too great, not alot of bass response. Now I know an amp would help that but how do i wire it? What place would work best to place the amp? Under the passenger seat, Or in one of the rear compartments? And can i run all 4 speakers through the amp?
Go to "General Corvette Topics" then click on "Audio/Electronics". You should be able to get your answer quite quickly there, or do a search under 'amps' in that forum, it might already have been covered.
does your current head unit have low signal coax outputs for a power amp? Weather or not you can run 4 speakers has to do with what kind of amp you get. Generaly speaking the main power feed to the amp is connected directly to the battery with a fuse inline. Then the big black wire goes to a good frame ground. Then there is a smaller wire that goes to the head unit that turns the amp on whenever the head unit is turned on.
First off, check your polarity on your speakers. Make sure the + terminal on the speaker gets the positive from the reciever. Makes a difference in sound.
Whats the output on your reciever (watts)?
Are you running one speaker per channel?
Amp mounting should be done in the rear. Have you looked under your seats? There is barely enough room for a mouse much less breathing room for an amp. :jester
