Default While I'm in there question

I just put the Metal ready on the under body parts to be POR-15'ed and I'm looking at the rear brake cross over line. The line looks clean except for the connections to the brake line blocks. I removed all the bolts and MM clips holding the blocks to the frame so I can paint around them.. Question: It's not leaking.. but would you replace the cross over line. It's only $20 at Muskegon BUT will it come out? Will it brake inside the brake line block. OK so the brake line blocks are only $13 each but one would still need to be removed from the main line from master cylinder.. This could lead into replacing the main line too.. I'd rather not waste $46 but these rusted connections got me thinking... With SS lines I wouldn't have this problem. Thoughts? Everything is out of the way.. Diff, spring, exhaust, T-arms.. sure would be easier now.. but..

Koz: If you're going through the trouble to Por-15 your frame, then you must be serious about detailing, So, the answer is replace the lines & if you're pocketbook can handle it, definately go to "braided". You'll love yourself for it!

Thanks for the reply. I'm doing the frame because I can see the rust on the frame under the side trim panels. Since I was going to paint the side frame I figured I'd use the best (POR-15) and one thing led to doing the whole frame.
I just yanked out the cross over line. Came out pretty easy which I like.. :D I ran the end nuts through the wire wheel being careful not to touch the tubing.. I'm soaking the tube in navel gel right now. It's not that I'm cheap.. i just hate spending money on stuff I can fix.. i would have gone with braded lines but they only sell them in sets.. and $75 right now is not worth it to me.. Besides, they can always be replaced.. Easy to get at.. Right now I'm going for the hard to reach stuff once everything is reassembled..

I'm doing it like that, too. Taking very good care to tidy up everything that
gets concealed. Then - I'll be whipping it back together and paying less attention
to the things that can be done as weekend projects or - dare I say it - next winter. :D

Koz: Yeah, it can get pretty costly. I'm opting for a braided line brake system. There's a place near me that I can get all of the stuff I need in braided without buy a whole kit or alot of stuff I don't need or want. That way you can custom the job as you go. I see no reason to buy new unless the parts are really "screwed" up. They can always be cleaned up & reused. But, going "custom" is a different story altogether. As long as the vette looks nice, that's what counts!
