Default service engine soon

I finished my intake job and I change my engine oil. I get a "service engine soon" light on my IP. I try to disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 mins. I pull out the ECM fuse for 5 mins. None of this can get rid of the "service engine soon" light. I wonder what is wrong with my car. Is there any reset button I should reset when I change my oil. Is this has to do with my timing light adjustment? Thanks

disconnecting the battery will get rid of any computer code if the condition has been corrected. sounds like you need to read the ECM can be done with a jumper module and thre check engine light itself.. any good repair manual should describe how this is done. by the way, what year and car is it?

Sear's, Auto Zone, Murray all carry the plug in code readers for about $20-30. Might be worth the $$ for now and the future. Plug one in and read the error code, they may even have a code book with the product.

Guess since you worked on the intake is one of the sensor or is still disconnected. Check all the wiring.

Save your money... Code readers are an expensive paper clip. Just jump pins A-B and count the flashes on the check engine light. You do need a book or jut post the resultts on the forum and I (or someone ) will look it up for you. I will be something like this ... Flash..........flash, flash............flash...........flash,f lash...... that would be 12... flash,flash.......flash,flash,flash.... (13) etc, etc. Each code will repeat three times in numerical order.
