Default Woo Hoo... The engine is out!!!

FINALLY!!!

Now I can get to cleaning it up, new cam and get the TPI on.

I'm on vacation this week and the only plans that I have are to work on the car.

So.... can the engine be ready to go back in, in a week?

I'm dropping the pan, new seals, new cam, same heads etc... TPI and new wiring harness. I'm painting it with POR 15 black engine paint and the regular POR15 for the bay.

Maybe things will go well and I will actually get to drive the car this summer. :D:D

I went with the comp cams XE 256 TPI version. It should be good for some stump pulling torque down low, which is what I really am looking for. :)
Down the road, I'll likely upgrade the heads etc... and who knows, maybe a new block. ;)

phoenix....

Since you are gonna drop the pan, why not at least check some of your main & rod bearings to see the wear that you are having. Not saying you need to change them.... just get an idea how things are internally. If you do, check one of the main bearings in the back as that's where GM engines are notorious of wearing first. And a new oil pump might be a thought.

I think I'll stop there. Otherwise you might have the engine out a LLLOOONNNGGG time by the time I get through with a list of $$$ to spend. :jester
