Can you use car ramps for a C3? If so do they need to be the special lower angle incline type? I was thinking this might be easier on the car than jacking and twisting on the frame every weekend. Do ramps get high enough to really work under the car?
Yes, ramps make it real nice when it comes to working under the front end. Make sure you purchase a set with a low angle of incline. 1st set I bought at napa and they were too steep. Bought another set a Fred Meyers and they work perfect. No longer have the paperwork but I believe they were 19 degree. :flag
I use Rhino Ramps. They are made of tough plastic, and I can easily drive up the ramps. I even use them with my C5, which is about 2 -3 inches lower than the C3. You can get Rhino's at many auto parts stores (got mine at Pep Boys).

Another vote for rhino ramps. They dont skid much either under our wide tires because of a nice rubber 'nipple' on them. They handle my Vette and the Z without a problem. If you have to put it on ramps on slick garage type flooring, you can drill a hole into the floor and drop a metal rod in there.. then scoot the ramp against it. No more sliding!
I had some rhino ramps, but I got tired of having to suck in the gut to go under my car, so I bouth the generic yellow ones which raise the car an inch or two more. At the time, I had a C4 which would not clear the ramps, so I bought the lego-looking "helper" ramps for them. All in all, my setup was $10 more than the rhino ramps.
The '80s have a problem because the spoiler is as wide as the front tires. I had no problems getting my '79 up on ramps, but my '80 is another story. My wife found some ramps at Napa that also had extensions to make the ramp angle less steep. They work like a charm. We actually had to send a coupon to the manufacturer to get the extensions.
