Juliet will have to confirm this, but I recall that the horizontal edges, and the first vertical edge closest to the front of the car remain chrome. The other vertical edges are painted ('71-'72 grilles have all the horizontal and vertical edges chrome) Kinda like:

I was half way through stripping the verticals (both were painted on mine: Bubba :banghead: ) when I suddenly had doubts! :confused: :confused:

Contact Barry (Barry's70LT1). He has a great picture of his original grills - never repainted. If you cannot get a hold of him, I may have the picture to send you as I saved it somewhere for reference.
