Several days ago, there was a thread regarding mounting a Blaster 2 at an angle causing it to burn out. Anyone who saw this may recall that it was mentioned that the since the coil is filled with oil, there may be a problem turning it on its side (or something like that).
Having recently purchased a Blaster 2 (although I have yet to install it), I decided to call Autozone to see what they said. When I told the manager of my concern, he said all similar coils are filled with oil and he has never had one returned. He did offer to replace mine if this issue came up.
I had a blaster 2 but returned it because it wasn't functioning properly. I got a Ford coil from AZone that was almost the same voltage for only $10. (40k instead of 45k volts I think) I mounted it horizontally since it was a perfect fit that way. So far no problem. If it is I will get another. By about the 3rd one I may swap it to a vertical installation. It just doesn't fit well that way as you probably know.
My local Autozone now caries the full line of MSD ignition componants. They carry the Comp Cam line of products as well. I'm not sure if this is up to the discretion of the individual stores or not.
You mean on the factory bracket that the coil mounts in on the intake manifold? That should be fine,it only leans back a little bit i wouldnt worry about that, but horizontal i would.
