Default L88 Hood

Hi,
I have a 69 in the body shop. I had replaced the motor with a nice fresh 350, but of course with the new manifold the hood didn't quite fit, so I was getting some nice spider cracks right in the middle of the hood. I used this excuse (with my wife) to get a new L88 hood and have the whole car repainted. The new hood replaces the whole wiper door horror show (althought I was proud of myself in actually getting that engineering marvel to work correctly). The question is what do you do with those moulding pieces that go on the sides? If I don't put them back it looks like there is going to be a rather large gap between the hood and fender. The bodyshop guy suggested putting them back on and painting them the color of the car. I would imagine that the long strip doesn't need to be put back on.

Thanks

The best looking fix is to extend the fender panel top to match the door and the hood. Requires a little fiberglass work, but well worth it in my opinion. The original trim pieces will not match. I'm just getting ready to do this mod, since I switched out to the long hood.
