Slide them all the way back and remove two bolts. Slide them all the way forward and remove two more. Grasp and lift. Removing the T-Top can give you more clearance. Be careful not to puncture your door panels with the sharp corners on the brackets.
Slide seat all the way forward, remove both bolts. Slide seat all the way back, remove both front bolts. The fronts may be hidden under a flap of carpet that was glued over bolts to hide them. Bolts are either 1/2" or 9/16", can't remember which. It's a lot easier to remove the seat, when unbolted, from the car with the t-top off.
Not sure if it's the same with a '76, but on my car the 2 seats attach differently. The removal/installation procedure for the passenger side is as described by other posters in this thread: i.e., the 4 seat bolts screw down through the floor pan from the interior into nut plates welded to the outside bottom. On the driver's side however, the bolts seem to be threaded studs without hex heads that connect with conventional nuts & washers under the car. You have to reach underneath and remove these nuts. (don't remember exactly, but I think they're 1/2" or 5/8").
i found money too! about 5 bucks in change and a nice pair of vise grips under the passenger seat, haven't taken out the drivers side seat yet...wonder what kind of loot awaits!!!! can't wait!
