After reading 1969c3Mandy's recent post, I was wondering what people thought of the market now. Are the price of cars going to go up this year? Is the market soft and a buyers market? Please add a response to explain how you feel also.
Personaly, I dont see the same number of cars for sale at shows, in HMN, or on the net that there were a couple of years ago, but it seems prices are down. The speculation that it was going to be like the late 80's again with investors inflating the prices doesn't seem to have happened.
I can assure you prices are not coming down. I am like EDT and in the trenches everyday searching for Corvettes.
I went to Corvette Expo. in Knoxville last Fri-Sat-Sun. There were at least 400-450 Corvettes for sale in the Corrall, and the two day Mecum Auction ran thru about 150 cars, with most being Corvettes.
I went fully prepared with cash in hand to buy a steel bumper Vette. 1963-1972. I can assure you there was not one Vette there at a decent price. I came back with a empty trailer.
A 77 Vette came inside the tent auction. I told my son its not what I am looking for but I will buy it to have something to take back. The high bid hit $9875.00 and it was a no sale as the reserve was $15,000.
I want even go into the other classic collectible Vettes like the 63 Roadster that did sell for $45,000.
If you have knowledge of a good Corvette that has a price that has been lowered below what it is worth and selling at a low price PLEASE let me know. If its in the South I will be interested, and if its in the North ED T will be interested.
so, how much does everyone think a chrome bumper, say '70, 350/350 coupe, with say 75K mi is worth? just curious? for the sake of arguemnet, it's origional, no option.
I remember reading that...the first Corvette body style you see as a young person will always be the body style that you think of when you think of a Corvette.
With that being said...I think the C3's are the next big thing. I know a lot of people look down at the C3's but guys in the 30 to 40 age group right now that always wanted a Vette are now at the stage in their lives to buy their dream car.
There were a lot of C3's made but the ones that are selling are...
1) 68-73 Chrome Bumpers
2) High Performance C3's
3) 74-82 with super low miles in mint condition
The above list is where you are seeing people buy. I do agree though that it is still a buyers market overall.

Is it original and worn out or in good shape? If the car needs to be redone I would say 10 to 13K In real nice shape $18K,
I just spent the last 3 hours reading Corvette trader so that is what prices are clearest in my mind, there were quite a few nice sounding chrome bumpers in there in the $15K range. Which I thought was kind of below market, a nice '69, original sidepipe car, 427/390, matching #'s for $26K, and quite a few 'vert's less than $25K.
